Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has been the talk of the town since its release on OTT giant Netflix. The main reason the period drama has been in the news is due to the actors' performance. While actors like Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala and Sanjeeda Shaikh are being praised for their impeccable acting, Sharmin Segal, on the other hand, is being massively trolled for her expressionless performance. Now, it seems Sonal Chauhan has extended support to Sharmin.

She's not the villain, you are: Sonal Chauhan

Without naming the person, Sonal penned a long note on her Instagram Story expressing her sadness about seeing how netizens are making a villain out of a person. She added that it is quite evident how videos are being manipulated to make an actor look bad. She reminded the trolls that it was them who started this trend. The person in question is not a villain rather the people trolling her/him are.

She started her note by writing, "It is quite evident how videos are being manipulated to make this particular actor look bad or how statements out of the whole interview are being put there just because making them look bad is 'trending' right now. Don't forget that you started this trend and you're adding to it."

She continued, "You're adding to the narrative. One's onscreen performance doesnt define their entire character or personality. She's not the villain. You are." She added the hashtags, "shame on you, draw line and be human".

Netizens react to Sonal Chauhan's cryptic note

Soon after Sonal dropped the post, Reddit users were quick to conclude that she had indirectly supported Sharmin. A user wrote, "Funny thing is Sharmin's videos are not being manipulated in the slightest to make her look bad; trust I’ve seen most of the clips that get posted here that go viral and the interviews they’re pulled from. 98 percent of the time, there’s not a single cut or misrepresentation of the question being asked." Another wrote, "Knew it was about Sharmin like 3 lines lmaoo is Sonal trying to be the next Heera in SLB’s mandi?? It's not like she’s that much better than Sharmin, so if the shoe fits lol.”

Sharmin has been receiving flak for making unpleasant remarks about her co-stars Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda Sheikh in her recent interviews.
