Prabhas and Deepika Padukone are gearing up for the release of their upcoming highly anticipated movie Kalki 2898 AD. As the release date is nearing, the cast is busy with the promotions. Speaking of which, a video is going viral on the Internet from the recent pre-release event where the cast can be seen discussing how Kamal Haasan came on board. Swapna Dutt revealed that Haasan took a year to approve the offer.

Swapna Dutt reveals Kamal Haasan was 'worried'

In the video from the pre-release event, the cast can be seen sitting in a circle and discussing about the movie. During the conversation, Swapna said, "I have to say that one of the most difficult casting ever was of Kamal sir.” She continued that the actor was "worried". Recalling an incident where they felt the absence of Kamal Haasan's character Yaskin. “You know we were shooting, but then like, ‘Yaskin, when is Yaskin coming? The whole film is Yaskin but where is Yaskin?’ And how would you cast this person who is equal and true or like mightier than these two superheroes? Who is it? And then we could only think of Kamal sir. It took us one year to figure this," she shared.

Prabhas added, "I was like why will he do it? Don’t torture me. Just leave.” On hearing this, Kamal Haasan pitched in and said that it's not a question of torture. He reveals "self-doubt" come and then points towards Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas saying, "He has done this. What am I going to do? That was the reason."

What else do we know about Kalki 2898 AD?

In the movie, Kamal Haasan plays the antagonist who is in search of pregnant Deepika Padukone. The movie is inspired by Hindu scriptures and is set in a post-apocalyptic world, in the year 2898 AD. The movie will hit the theatres on June 27.
