It is widely known that the Hind film industry is one of the biggest film industries in the world today. Though acting is taught in many schools today, people from theatre background have been known for their skills and methods of becoming great film actors. Many of our beloved stars in the Hindi film industry have also come from the theatre background and are recognised by the public for their acting skills. Here is a list of stars who made their way into Bollywood from their theatre performances.

Shah Rukh Khan

The 'King of Bollywood,' as he is fondly known, also used to work in theatre before making his way into big-screen entertainment. He studied theatre under Barry John and was a part of a theatre group before being signed as a solider in the TV show Fauji. Shah Rukh Khan has expressed that Barry John is the one who carved out the actor we see today. 'King Khan' also adds that because of this theatre, he learned skills like perseverance and belief and harbours a never-give-up-attitude.

Manoj Bajpai

The man who is seen in the Gangs of Wasseypur as Sardar Khan also is a man of theatre. Reportedly, since his childhood, he wanted to join the National School of Drama. He is said to have been rejected by the National School of Drama multiple times. During his graduation, he joined many street plays that later paid off as the National School of Drama offered him a way in, but not as a student, as a teacher. He also was trained under Barry John.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui

The dialogue “Bhagwan ko Mante ho Saahab” makes us remember the face of Ganesh Gaitonde. The star who played the famous don in the hit series of Netflix was none other than Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He also is a man from the theatre. He was a chemist until he found his passion for acting, after which he started as a theatre artist. After he moved to Delhi, he worked in many plays that eventually led him to Bollywood. From there, he moved to Mumbai and, after a struggle of 12 years, he has become one of the top actors in the world of Hindi films.
