Are the collections true or false? There has been a controversy over the box office figures of Housefull 4 with even some celebrities sharing their reactions to it, over its incorrect or ‘inflated’ reportage. Nevertheless, the reports that have arrived state that the movie has succeeded in entering the Rs 100-crore club in five days. After three-day ‘pre-Diwali’ phase on the weekend didn’t fetch the moolah, the movie showed a turnaround with impressive figures over the weekdays.

As per trade reports, Housefull 4 didn’t have the best of starts, since it just about managed to touch the Rs 50-mark in the opening weekend. After collecting in the Rs 18-19 crore range on the first two days, the movie slided on Sunday, earning around Rs 14-15 crore. The reportsattributed the drop to the Diwali festivities since people liked to celebrate it with their near and dear ones instead of visiting a theatre. A turnaround was predicted by the trade analysts for Monday and it turned out to be true since as the movie took one of the biggest collections in a single day this year, raking in over Rs 34 crore on Monday. On Tuesday, the reincarnation comedy continued to do well, as it earned Rs 24 crore. The collections now stand at a total of around 110 crore in five days.

It is not clear if it was because of the humongous growth from Sunday to Monday, but veteran producer Ronnie Screwvala tagged some of the well-known trade analysts and asked them to report the correct figures. One of them, Taran Adarsh has not given a daily update of the figures like he usually does. Screwvala had written, “Isn’t it time everyone reports Box Office numbers accurately! @KomalNahta @taran_adarsh ... accuracy of information builds CREDIBILITY which the movie industry needs so badly ... and not sure how long-to appease egos will Studios and all keep encouraging pumped up data on numbers.” He had, however, cleared that it was not directed at any particular film, “Just to clarify that my tweet was not directed at any one movie ( as is being wrongly assumed ) but just an overall comment for the future + my reasons to tag some of the industry authorities was because they can make a difference to the credibility - happy Diwali.”
