The #MeToo movement that broke in October last year had led to several well-known celebrities being called out for alleged sexual misconduct. Despite a call to ‘boycott’ the alleged offenders, a lot of them are back at work today. Alok Nath starred in De De Pyaar De, Anu Malik is back on Indian Idol, Subhash Kapoor will direct Aamir Khan in Mogul, amid reports of some of the other names returning to work also doing the rounds. Vikas Bahl too was at the receiving end of multiple allegations, but was credited as the director of Hrithik Roshan-starrer Super 30. While the filmmaker maintained a distance from the media when the movie had released, he was finally snapped with the team as they all reunited to celebrate the success of Super 30.

As per reports, Hrithik Roshan hosted a dinner bash for those who made Super 30 possible. Apart from Anand Kumar, the academician on whose life the movie was based on, and his brother Pranav Kumar, Vikas Bahl was also seen with the trio. The quartet posed for the cameras gathered at the venue and were all smiles.

The point to note is that Vikas Bahl had skipped the promotions of the movie completely before its release in July. Hrithik and Anand Kumar were seen at the promotional events. Hrithik too has not been seen with the director after the wrap-up bash in September, before the #Metoo allegations had surfaced against him. That’s the reason, Vikas’ appearance at the event raised eyebrows.

Vikas Bahl, who directed the National Award-winning Queen, was accused by a former employee of Phantom Films, the banner he co-founded along with Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena, of sexual harassment. Kangana Ranaut and some actors of Queen had also opened up on their uncomfortable encounters with him at that time. His former partners had also confirmed the allegations then.

At that time, Hrithik Roshan had said that it was ‘impossible’ for him to work with anyone who is guilty of such ‘grave misconduct’. In June, a month before Super 30 was to hit the screens, an internal committee of Reliance Entertainment, the producers of Super 30, had exonerated Vikas in the sexual harassment case. This report was used as the basis to credit him as the director of the film.

Nevertheless, Super 30 turned out to be a success at the box office. The movie, also starring Mrunal Thakur, Pankaj Tripathi and Nandish Singh Sandhu, entered the Rs 100-crore club at the box office, and earned around Rs 130 crore at the domestic ticket windows. The movie was also declared tax-free in many states.
