Ishq Vishk Rebound will hit the big screen on June 21. The film features Rohit Saraf, Jibraan Khan, Naila Grrewal, and Pashmina Roshan. The romantic comedy movie is produced by Ramesh Taurani, who in a new interview, claimed that all actors in the film were cast on the basis of their merit. For the unversed, the lead actress in the film Pashmina Roshan is the daughter of composer Rajesh Roshan and cousin sister of Hrithik Roshan. 

We had no idea who she was, says Ramesh Taurani about Pashmina Roshan 

In a conversation with Forbes, Ramesh Taurani spoke about the upcoming movie Ishq Vishk Rebound. The producer shared that he was not aware of who Pashmina Roshan was or her connection with the film industry. He told the publication, “We had no idea who she was. Pashmina was one of the 15 girls we shortlisted, we had no idea who she was.”

He recalled coming to know about Pashmina only when they began drafting contracts. He added, “When we started doing her contracts, we found out she was a Roshan. I had worked extensively with her father Rajesh Roshan, but he never called, asking me to consider her.”

Ramesh Taurani says merit matters the most 

In the same conversation, Ramesh Taurani shared that in the industry it is only one's work that matters the most. He recalled launching Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao in the industry with the original film Ishq Vishk and planning to do the same with the cast of the new movie. He added, “Merit matters more than anything in this industry, whether you’re an outsider or a nepo kid. If you see from the ’80s to now, there are some actors who haven’t succeeded despite their lineage. With the original Ishq Vishk, we launched Shahid, Amrita Rao and Shenaz Treasurywala. Shahid is a superstar today! Shenaz was also flooded with offers after the film. We are keen to do more movies with these kids too.”

He also recalled getting five rounds of auditions for Rohit Saraf. He recalled, “We wanted newcomers. Rohit Saraf has tasted fame, but this will launch him as a mainstream hero. We had five rounds of auditions and chose them.”
