Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD has left its mark at the domestic box office in the opening weekend. The movie opened at ₹22.50 crore and since then has seen only an upward trend in the daily collection. In the opening weekend, the sci-fi thriller was able to surpass ₹100 crore mark in the Hindi version and over ₹300 crore in all languages. However, the real challenge was Monday. Given the trends, the movie was expected to score bug numbers on the first weekday, but the reality is otherwise.
Co-starring Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, the movie could only manage to earn approximately ₹16.5 crore in Hindi at the domestic box office on Monday. The movie, which minted ₹40.15 crore on Sunday, witnessed a major drop in the collection on the fifth day. However, we can say that it passed the test as the Hindi version of the movie has performed well in comparison to other regional languages.
Adding the fifth-day collection, the total now stands at ₹128.65 crore in the Hindi version at the domestic box office. Kalki 2898 AD had an overall 28.94 per cent Hindi occupancy in 2D and 35.41 per cent in 3D version on Monday.
