Kangana Ranaut Weighs Between Her Film And Political Career, Calls Latter 'Harsh Life'

Kangana Ranaut, in a recent interview, shared that she was first approached to join politics after her debut hit movie Gangster, co-starring Emraan Hashmi.

Kangana Ranaut is currently basking in the success of winning her debut Lok Sabha elections in 2024 from the Mandi constituency. After her win, the actress visited her "happy place" Sadhguru's Isha Foundation, Tamil Nadu. Now, in a recent interview, the actress was asked about her feelings after winning the election. She also revealed that working in movies is easier than politics.

In an interview with The Himachali Podcast, Kangana revealed that this is not the first time she was approached to join politics. After she made her blockbuster debut with Gangster, she was offered a ticket. Elaborating on the reason behind being approached by the political parties as her great-grandfather was an MLA for at least three terms. "So when you belong to such a family, and taste some success, the local leaders approach you. It is very common," she continued. Not just her, even her father has also received an offer. Her sister Rangoli, who serves as Kangana's manager, was also offered to join politics after she survived an acid attack.

"So, it is not a big deal for us to get political offers…If I wasn’t interested in this, I didn’t really have to go through so much trouble," she added.

Kangana Ranaut opens up about the difference between movies and politics

The actress in the same segment elaborated on the difference between movies and politics. Kangana said that politics takes a "lot of efforts" and is a "harsh" life where only troubled people come to see you. Whereas, when a person goes to watch a film is "very relaxed." She also opened up about balancing her film and political career, "I am a person who goes with passion. Even in the film industry, I am an actor, writer, director and producer. Here in my political career, if I have to engage myself with the people here, I will go ahead with it. There is no compulsion."

Kangana Ranaut joined the BJP earlier this year and immediately announced that she would be contesting in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. She won the seat by a margin of 74,755 votes against her Congress rival, Vikramaditya Singh.
