Munjya Struggles To Cross ₹100 Crore Mark, Chandu Champion Tanks Following Kalki 2898 AD Release
Films such as Munjya and Chandu Champion released before Kalki 2898 AD slowed down at the box office because of the release of Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus.

Kalki 2898 AD hit the big screens on June 27. The films opened to a thunderous response at the box office. However, because of the release of the Prabhas starrer, the business of other Bollywood movies running in theatres took a hit. Films such as Munjya and Chandu Champion released before Kalki slowed down at the box office because of the release of Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus.
Munjya, Chandu Champion business takes a hit following Kalki 2898 AD release
Munjya starring Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma opened to a decent response at the box office. The horror-comedy movie minted ₹4 crore at the box office, as per Sacnilk. The movie registered a growth in business in the subsequent days. After a 24-day theatrical run, the movie has raked in ₹ 94.6 Cr in India. After the release of Kalki, the movie’s business registered a staggering decline. The supernatural drama is now struggling to cross ₹100 crore mark at the box office.
Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion hit the screens on June 14, two weeks before Kalki 2898 AD. Even though the movie maintained a steady pace at the box office, the business took a further hit after the release of the Nag Ashwin directorial. Directed by Kabir Khan, the sports drama film is a biographical drama of India's first Paralympics gold medallist Murlikant Petkar. The film has raked in ₹58.89 crore in the 17-day run.
Kalki 2898 AD box office collection day 3 (Hindi)
As per early estimates reported by Sacnilk, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer minted ₹27 crore in Hindi at the domestic box office. Adding the third-day collection, the movie's total in Hindi now stands at ₹72.5 crore. Kalki 2898 AD had an overall 96.73 per cent Hindi occupancy on Saturday (adding both 2D and 3D versions). If the collection maintains the pace, then by the end of the weekend, the movie will enter the ₹100 crore club. The journey thereafter - on the make-or-break Monday - is crucial. However, a double-digit score seems certain seeing the recent trends.
Apart from Deepika and Prabhas, the movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in the lead roles. The movie has been inspired by Hindu scriptures. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD, the film follows the few selected, who are on a mission to save the unborn child, Kalki, of SUM-80, a lab subject.
