Nargis Fakhri, who made her acting debut in Rockstar, recalls struggling with Hindi

Nargis Fakhri, who will soon be seen in the web series Tatlubaaz, recently opened up about her early days in the industry, especially her struggle with learning Hindi language. Nargis Fakhri recently completed her 12 years in the industry. Fakhri had made her acting debut with the Imtiaz Ali film Rockstar, where she was paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

Received the script 5-10 days before shoot: Nargis Fakhri

The Rockstar actress was speaking with Bollywood Bubble when she opened up about the subject. Nargis Fakhri, who is Pakistani-American by origin, grew up in the United States and hence did not know how to speak Hindi when she was signed by Imtiaz for Rockstar. In the interview, Nargis informed that she was given little to no time to learn the Hindi language, which would have made the job easier for her to look more believable portraying an Indian woman.

The actress added, “It’s very rushed most often which makes me sad. I’ve received the script maybe like 5 to 10 days before a shoot so imagine you have to read the whole thing and go through it and get into the character.” Fakhri stated that it wasn’t a lot of time for her, adding, “maybe for someone else - they probably don’t even need to read anything. They just come on set and get into it.”

Among other subjects, the actress also talked about the industry’s inability to go beyond looks, especially when it comes to actresses. She stated, “I wouldn’t know what they’re looking at. I don’t know I mean if that’s what I bring. They always say you have to play to your strengths. If people feel that’s what I bring then that’s a good thing doesn’t matter.”

After her debut in Rockstar, Nargis Fakhri appeared in many prominent films like Madras Cafe, Main Tera Hero, Azhar and Dishoom. Before Tatlubaaz, Nargis Fakhri was last seen in the 2022 film Shiv Shastri Balboa. Tatlubaaz marks Nargis Fakhri’s OTT debut where she will be seen with actors like Dheeraj Dhopar and Divya Agarwal.
