Shahid Kapoor last featured in the rom-com Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya opposite Kriti Sanon. He is currently shooting for Deva, in which he will play the role of a law enforcement officer. Reportedly, the actor is set to feature in OMG 2 fame Amit Rai's next period film, which the latter is currently working on. According to fresh buzz, South star Rana Daggubati is also being considered for a role, which will have dark shades.

Rana to feature in Amit Rai's next?

Pinkvilla had earlier reported that Shahid Kapoor will be essaying Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Amit Rai’s next directorial after OMG 2. The film will be produced by Wakaoo Films with Dil Raju and will go on floors by the end of 2024. In the latest update from this project, Amit and his team are considering Rana Daggubati to play the role of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in the yet untitled period drama.

Advanced talks with Rana to begin soon after logistics are in place

A source in the know told the website, “Rana is at the top of the list for Amit Rai for the part of Aurangzeb, however, the logistics need to fall in place for the actor to come on board the film. Shahid is also excited with the probable collaboration.”

The source further informed that Amit Rai’s film is based on one of the key chapters of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s life and times. “It’s a film based on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, but not a biopic. The makers plan to treat it as a thriller, as the backdrop of the feature film is more on the lines of a jail-break by Chattrapathi Shivaji Maharaj in the era gone by,” the source added.
