Ranbir Kapoor didn't cry when his father Rishi Kapoor died
In a conversation with Nikhil Kamath on his YouTube channel, Ranbir spoke about the bond he shared with his late father. The Animal actor said he shares a great bond with his mother Neetu Kapoor, but his relationship with Rishi Kapoor was “not so great". Calling it “distant”, the actor admitted loving and respecting him. During the conversation, he shared that he stopped crying very early on and stated, "You know it’s funny I didn’t cry when my father passed away.”

Recalling the night when the doctor informed him that it was Rishi Kapoor's last night and he was going to go soon, the actor went up to the room and had a panic attack. “I was like, ‘I don’t know how to express myself. I don’t know what was happening, it’s too much to take.’ But I don’t think I have grieved,” Ranbir said and added that he didn’t understand the loss of losing a parent.
When asked if he feels the guilt, to this, the actor said that he doesn't feel the guilt as much as he felt while going away. He recalled the day when Rishi Kapoor once came to his room and started crying (when the father-son duo was in New York during the later actor's treatment). When Ranbir saw his father crying, he didn't know what to do and that's when he realised the distance between them. "I felt guilt that I didn’t have the grace to let go of the glass or the distance between us and go and hug him,” Ranbir admitted.
