Saira Banu pens note as Mughal-e-Azam completes 63 years, says 'Dilip Kumar added...'

Mughal-e-Azam (1960), starring Dilip Kumar, Prithviraj Kapoor and Madhubala, is one of the evergreen classics of  Indian cinema. The film completed 63 years today, August 5. On the special day, Saira Banu shared a video on her social media handle with a long note. In the note, she praised Dilip Kumar and said that his portrayal of Prince Salim was "nothing short of mesmerizing".

Dilip Kumar played the role of Prince Salim in the film, while Madhubala portrayed the role of Anarkali. Speaking about the late actor's performance, Saira Banu Banu said that he infused life into the character. For her, he was a sight to behold in romantic scenes as well as the ones involving rebellion.

Towards the end of the note, Saira Banu said that the film reminds the audience of the artistic heights that Indian cinema can attain. "It continues to inspire generations of filmmakers and actors, serving as a reminder that true artistry knows no bounds and stands the test of time," she concluded.

Mughal-e-Azam revolved around the love between Mughal Prince Salim (who went on to become King Jahangir) and Anarkali, a court dancer. It is also known for iconic songs such as Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, Mohe Panghat Pe and Teri Mehfil Mein.
