Sushmita Sen’s daughters don’t want her to get married, here’s why

Sushmita Sen is currently basking in the success of her recent web series Taali. The actress was seen playing the role of the transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant on the show. In a recent interview, Sushmita opened up about being a single mother. She talked about her daughters being used to the idea of not having a father and that now they don’t want her to get married.

Sushmita Sen reveals daughters’ reaction to her getting married 

In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Sushmita opened up on her daughters’ need for a father figure. The actress stated they don’t even want her to get married as they have no need for a father in their life. 

She said, “They don’t miss having a father figure because they have never had a father. You only miss what you have. And now, when I suggest to them that I should get married, they will be like, ‘What? For what? I don’t want a father’. But I may want a husband, it may have nothing to do with you! They don’t miss a father.”

The former Miss Universe added their grandfather (Sushmita’s father) is the only father figure in their life. “They have Tata, my father and their grandfather. He is everything for them. Anytime they need to have a father figure and a great example, he is the man,” she added. 

Sushmita Sen adopted two daughters

Sushmita embraced motherhood at the age of 24 when she adopted Renee. In 2010, she brought home Alisah, her second child. When the actress looked back on her life, she was proud of herself and emphasised that having children was the best choice she had ever made.

Her elder daughter Renee also made her singing debut in her web series Taali. She lent her voice to Mahamrityunjaya Mantra in the trailer of the show. The actress made an Instagram post expressing her happiness about her daughter’s inclusion in the show and said Renee’s voice gave her goosebumps.
