''Today's Women Have Minds of Their Own'', Shahid Kapoor On Wife Mira's Acting Debut

Post the success of 'Padmaavat' Shahid Kapoor is back with his much-anticipated film 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' the trailer of which was unveiled recently. The movie highlights the issue of electricity shortage and the inaccuracies in electricity bills in India. The film also features Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma in pivotal roles. Shahid made headlines after he married a 20-year-old college pass out Mira Rajput Kapoor with an age difference of around 13 years. At the trailer launch of his upcoming film 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu', when Shahid was asked about Mira's Bollywood debut, the 'Udta Punjab' star bluntly answered that "When she does a press conference ask her. Today women have their own minds and make their own decisions." 

Mira, who chose to be a homemaker, once said that her daughter is not a puppy to be left at home when she goes out to work. This comment led to an immense backlash from working mothers who were of the opinion that Mira's comment is in bad taste. But seems that Mira Rajput Kapoor is now all set to create her own identity and the actress has recently shot for her first ever television commercial for Olay skincare products. The ad features Mira as a mother who doesn’t get time to take care of herself as she is busy taking care of the baby. Though Mira made a strong debut with the Television commercial the concept didn't go well with the netizens and Mira was slammed who promoting an antiaging cream at the age of 23. Post their marriage, Shahid and Mira are often spotted hand in hand outside the gym, at various Bollywood events, and on vacations. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter Misha who is a year old and will soon welcome their second child. 

 

Meanwhile praising director Shree Narayan Singh during the trailer launch of 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu', Shahid opened up how socially relevant films with entertainment is the flavour of the season. Shahid further praised Shree Narayan Singh for ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ and revealed how it enlightened him about the issue of sanitation in the country. Shahid said,"It is an important issue. I had no idea about the sanitation issue, it is a rural issue. Shree Narayan Singh’s film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ was educational for me."
