Tumbbad, starring Sohum Shah, continues to captivate audiences with its unique horror-fantasy narrative. The film’s resurgence in theatres has been met with enthusiastic support from both critics and audiences, further underscoring its enduring impact and the value of revisiting classic films on the big screen. With no availability on OTT platforms, the theatrical re-release of Tumbbad has added a significant benefit to the box office earnings. The re-release opened at ₹1.65 crore gross at the domestic box office, followed by amassing ₹2.65 crore on its second day. On the third day, the earnings took the movie to new heights as it closed the first weekend on ₹ 7.34 crore. The movie has been performing well at the box office despite clashing with Kareena Kapoor starrer The Buckingham Murders.

Tumbbad re-release box office collection day 3

Helmed by Rahi Anil Barve, Tumbbad minted ₹3.04 crore on the third day of the re-release. For the unversed, in 2018, the movie in three days earned ₹3.25 crore at the box office. Adding the 3-day collection of the re-release, the total stands at ₹ 7.34 crore at the opening weekend, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh. He added that the movie's "impressive" box office performance has shifted the spotlight to re-releases.

"When #Tumbbad first released in 2018, it had collected a modest ₹ 3.25 cr in its 3-day opening weekend, despite favourable audience feedback. Six years later, in its re-release, #Tumbbad has collected 125.85% more in its 3-day opening weekend, proving that a good film truly stands the test of time," he wrote on X.

Why Tumbbad is 'not available' on OTT?

Months before the movie re-released in the theatres, the makers had removed the movie from Prime Video and Netflix in India. These two platforms hosted the film earlier, but a search now reveals that they are no longer available for streaming. The reason can be to bring the traction to theatres.
