Varun Dhawan is currently in the midst of filming his next big banner release, VD18. The film, evidently marks his eighteenth outing to the cinemas and has accrued major hype considering the fact that the film is being bankrolled by Jawan director Atlee. Varun Dhawan took to his Instagram stories to share a close up shot of his leg, revealing that he has injured himself on the sets of VD18. His brief caption read, "Swollen shin banged it into an iron" followed by a crying emoticon.

This is incidentally, not the first time the actor has injured himself on the sets of VD18. Earlier this year in August, when VD18 hit the floors, Varun Dhawan sustained an injury the very next day on sets. Much like this time, the actor took to his Instagram stories to share a close up shot of his evidently swollen elbow. Accompanying this was the caption, "No pain, no gain. VD18."

What is next for Varun Dhawan?

Varun Dhawan's only release this year has been Bawaal. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film was a direct-to-OTT release featuring the actor opposite Janhvi Kapoor. The film ran into immense controversy considering the repeated delineations the narrative drew to the Holocaust. Post this, Dhawan appeared in a brief cameo for the Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt led Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

The actor is currently filming for VD 18, directed by Kalees. Also in the works, is the Indian spin-off of American spy thriller series Citadel, created by the Russo brothers - the Indian version, also starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, is being helmed by Raj and DK. The actor is also rumoured to collaborate with father David Dhawan on a comedy film, scheduled to go on floors in April.
