Vikrant Massey's 12th Fail chosen to close Macau’s Asia-Europe Young Cinema Film Festival

Despite its October release, Vikrant Massey starrer 12th Fail is still inspiring and entertaining viewers not just in India but also overseas. Reaching a noteworthy achievement, the movie has now been chosen to close the prestigious Macau Asia-Europe Young Cinema Film Festival. It will be screened at the event on January 11.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra will mark his presence at the screening of 12th Fail on January 11 in Macau. The film is based on Anurag Pathak's best-selling novel about the actual story of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma.

The movie delves into the relentless struggles of millions of students attempting the UPSC exams. Apart from covering exam preparations, the movie also covers the struggles of all the aspirants, exploring the many personal problems that aspiring students face both at home as well as in their personal relationships during exam studies.

This causes a lot of emotional problems for the students who end up quitting, or get massive depression. Ultimately a story of resilience, perseverance, and never giving up.

Vikrant Massey opens up about his working experience in the 12th Fail 

Reflecting on his experience working on the film, Vikrant shared with ANI, “The movie is a quintessential Vidhu Vinod Chopra production, grounded in harsh reality. It’s a hard-hitting film, and the role was quite challenging. I had to undergo physical transformations, including weight loss and darkening my skin.”

Apart from Vikrant, 12th Fail also stars Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee in pivotal roles. The film has garnered praise from notable figures such as Kamal Haasan, Rishabh Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Farhan Akhtar, and Anil Kapoor, among others. In November 2023, the movie was also submitted to the Oscars as an independent nomination.
