Music composer and singer Amaal Mallik recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with clinical depression and that his self worth has been diminished by the actions of "near and dear ones". In a lengthy note, Amaal blamed his parents, composer Daboo Malik and singer Jyoti Malik, for creating a gulf between him and his younger brother, singer Armaan Malik. Amaal further said he is "stepping away from these personal ties" and that his interactions with his family will be professional from now on.
Soon after, Amaal deleted the post and urged the media to not "harass" his family and "sensationalise and give negative headlines" to his "vulnerability". He also played down the rift between him and his younger brother Armaan, sharing that "nothing changes between them". Meanwhile, an old video of Armaan talking about how his composer brother Amaal got angry and hurled a book at him in a studio during a recording session has also surfaced, hinting at the nature of their relationship and the tension that has been brewing between the brothers for a while.
Armaan looked back at the time when he was recording for a song in Ajay Devgn starter De De Pyaar De. Amaal was the composer and was unhappy with how things were shaping up in the studio. "There were a lot of fights that happened during the recording of Chale Aana song from De De Pyaar De. A book was thrown at me. Amaal was angry. He was not convinced and happy about my singing. I was on the verge of leaving the studio and I was certain that I'm not going to sing for him again. He dragged me and got me back and said, 'You will sing and get it right'. I sang in anger and it was okayed in one take," Armaan shared.
"He has his way of extracting work out of me," he added.
