Ever since he ventured into production with the 2012 movie Vicky Donor, John Abraham has been featured in movies that narrate a hard-hitting tale. Be it Madras Cafe in which he played an Indian intelligence agent or Parmanu wherein he played an IAS officer tasked with the development and testing of nuclear weapons in secrecy, the actor has been proving his prowess. However, he is no stranger to the lows and highs, especially in the professional space. In an exclusive chat with Republic Media Network's editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, John Abraham shares an anecdote where he felt particularly dejected.
In conversation, John Abraham, who has completed over two decades in the Hindi film industry, shared that he feels particularly blue when his doubts are cast on his craft. He shared, “The lows are when people doubt your craft because I work so hard at it. It's about the body, I love that sometimes the roles have to be physical. And I want to this commercial for them like Pathaan, like Force, it's great. But, I also want to make films like The Diplomat."

Recalling a conversation he had with a producer, the 52-year-old actor said, " A producer directly told me, 'They don't want to see you in films like this'. And I said, ‘But how are you judging? Let the film happen, maybe it will work like Madras Cafe’. They said, 'No, no John you need to better films where you fight.' I'm like, 'No, you need to the film where you think, that's very important, that's what makes you attractive."
In the same conversation, John revealed that it was the 1993 movie Schindler's List that made him take up a career in acting. He opined, “I am not a campaigner for the six packs. You do it in films, but you do it for yourself. You don't need to go and talk about it everywhere. You want to do films that actually provoke you. The reason I came into films was because of Schindler's List.”
