Anushka Sharma's inspiration behind becoming an actor has a Jab We Met connection

In an old interview, Anushka Sharma revealed that the first time she wanted to be an actress was after watching Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor's film Jab We Met.

Anushka Sharma, who made her Bollywood debut with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), recently revealed the name of the star who inspired her to become an actress. An old video of the actress resurfaced online, in which she can be heard opening up about when she decided to pursue an acting career.

Speaking to Rajeev Masand in an old interview, the actress said that the first time she wanted to be an actress was after watching Jab We Met (2007). She saw Kareena Kapoor as Geet in the film and thought if she could do this.

She said, “The first time I wanted to be an actress ever was after I saw Jab We Met. So, for me, it was basically about, when I’m doing a film with you, it has to be a glorious experience. I told him (Imtiaz Ali), ‘That’s the reason why… if I’m doing a film with you, it has to be that film. You are the person who made me think that this is interesting.’ When I saw Geet, when I saw Kareena in the film, I was like oh, this is nice, maybe I could do this.”

About Jab We Met

The film which was helmed by Imtiaz Ali, starred Kareena Kapoor alongside Shahid Kapoor. The romantic comedy-drama became a classic and is still loved by everyone across generations. The film’s plot revolves around Kareena and Shahid, who, due to fate, come together while dealing with their challenges. Despite facing various obstacles, they find their way to each other.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Anushka Sharma is gearing up for the release of her next film Chakda Xpress. It is based on the life of former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. The film will mark Anushka's return to screens after 5-year hiatus.
