Aamir Khan aka Mr Perfectionsit's personal life has become a hot topic these days. The Lagaan actor, who has been married twice, made headlines after introducing his girlfriend Gauri Spratt to the public on his 60th birthday. Amid this, in a recent interview, the Sitaare Zameen Par actor shared how he isolated himself and took a break from work for over a year following his separation from his first wife, Reena Dutta.

In an interview with Instant Bollywood, Aamir Khan shared that he began drinking heavily after his divorce from Reena Dutta, finishing an entire bottle daily. He admitted, “When Reena and I broke up the first time, I was in mourning for almost 2-3 years.” He explained that during this period, he “wasn’t working, listening to scripts,” or engaging with others, spending about 1.5 years isolated at home.

Aamir described himself as a "Devdas" during this phase, saying, “I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t sleep at night, and I started drinking. From someone who didn’t drink at all, I went to being someone who drank an entire bottle in a day. Main Devdas tha! (I was like Devdas), exactly Devdas. Someone who is trying to destroy themselves. I did that for 1.5 years. I was in a deep depression."

Reflecting on his experience, he stated, “You accept how important it was for you. Accept that what was once yours is not there now. Also accept how good it was for you when it was there, and how much you will miss it when it isn’t there anymore.”

This comes after Aamir introduced his partner, Gauri Spratt to the world.
