Ekta, Shobha Kapoor Likely to Be Questioned by Mumbai Police Over POCSO Complaint

A case has been filed against Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under the POCSO Act for allegedly showing inappropriate scenes involving minor girls in an episode of the ALT Balaji's web series Gandi Baat. For the unversed, ALT Balaji is the digital unit of Balaji Telefilms launched in 2017 by film and TV producer Ekta Kapoor. Following the case reports claim that the Mumbai police are likely to issue a notice to the mother-daughter duo.

Mumbai police likely to issue notice to Ekta-Shobha Kapoor: Report

As per a media publication, Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor will most likely be summoned by the Mumbai police. The officials have stated that they will soon summon the accused mother-daughter duo to the police station for enquiry. However, the official claimed that this would happen only after the detailed statement of the complainant had been registered.

Ekta Kapoor and her mother are yet to issue a statement on the matter. The case is related to season 6 of the web series Gandi Baat on the OTT platform Alt Balaji.

What charges are Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor booked under?

According to Mumbai Police, a case has been registered against Balaji Telefilm Limited, Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor at MHB police station in Mumbai under sections 295-A of IPC, IT Act and sections 13 and 15 of POCSO Act. It is written in the complaint that this series, which streamed on Alt Balaji between February 2021 and April 2021, showed obscene scenes of minor girls. However, this controversial episode is not currently streaming on this app.

However, this is not Ekta Kapoor's first brush with controversy. Earlier in 2020, an FIR was filed against Ektaa in Indore, Madhya Pradesh . The complaint raised allegations of insult to the army personnel in Alt Balaji's XXX web series.
