Virat Kohli Trends: Not For IPL 2025, But His Turkish Actor Doppelganger Is Bursting The Internet

Turkish actor Cavit Çetin Güner has gone viral on social media after a scene featuring him in the series Dirilis: Ertuğrul led to a comparison with Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. Internet users were surprised by the striking similarity Cavit had with Virat. Many on social media also tagged Anushka Sharma, writing that her husband had made his "TV debut".

A post was shared on an X handle with the caption, "Kohli is the real Ertugul. This explains why Pakistanis consider him fatherly." Many laughed at the caption, while others could not help but see that the facial features of Cavit resembled Virat's. The Indian cricketer's look, with his stubble, will certainly make you look twice.

"Kohli's dominance on the cricket field and his commanding presence could draw playful parallels to a strong, respected leader like Ertuğrul (sic)," commented a social media user. Some pointed out that Cavit is not the title character in the Turkish series but a secondary character who accompanies the main one on his quest. "That's indeed a character in the Ertugrul series. Although this character looking like VK is not Ertugrul in the series but he played a companion of Ertugrul (sic). Güner essayed the role of Dogan Bey in Dirilis: Ertugrul. The show is set in the 13th century. It follows Ertuğrul, the father of Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman Empire. Actor Engin Altan Düzyatan portrays the titular character in the series. The show is currently available to stream on YouTube.

Social media has been abuzz with comparisons between Cavit's well-groomed beard look and Virat’s signature style. Other photos of the Turkish actor sporting a beard like Virat indeed make him look like the Indian cricket star.
