It's controversial/ Youtuber Boogie2988 claims streaming platform Twitch banned him ‘for being fat’ after uploading NSFW

In a recent turn of events, popular American YouTuber and streamer Boogie2988 has been banned from Twitch for streaming in the nude. The ban follows his attempt to satirise the trend of using censor bars to cover nudity during streams. Boogie2988 took to X uploading a video where he accused Twitch of being ableist and wrongly banning him.

What were Boogie2988’s claims against Twitch?

In the video that the creator shared, he displayed his naked body, arguing that he was within Twitch's terms of service (TOS) since he was only revealing loose skin. Claiming that Twitch's ban was discriminatory, Boogie2988 asserted, “Twitch is ableist. They banned me because I am obese. They banned me because I have loose skin. These are not my testicles. This is not my genitalia. Twitch, you banned me for being fat, you ableist pr*cks.”

He added that everything shown on his stream adhered to Twitch's TOS, stripping off his clothes in the video to demonstrate that it was just loose skin visible.

Twitch is not in the mood to mould its policy

Boogie2988's ban coincided with Twitch's policy changes on artistic nudity and the introduction of new TOS, prompting streamers to test these boundaries.

Notably, VTuber Marina faced a ban for wearing "inappropriate attire" on her avatar, leading Twitch to update its policies. The ban extended to the trend of using censor bars to obscure nudity on streams, with Boogie2988 being the first to face consequences for participating in this trend.

Streamer Bans, an account tracking Twitch suspensions, shared news of Boogie2988's ban, to which he responded, "I got banned from Twitch for showing my loose skin. Twitch is ableist [sic]. This is disgusting." He clarified in a reply that he intended to troll streamers following the new meta.

Boogie2988's video triggered several opinions on his ban and on-stream appearance. Twitch has subsequently reverted its changes on artistic nudity, prohibiting all forms of fictional or real nudity on the platform.
