In an interview on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11, Dhanashree shared how their relationship started. "During the lockdown, no matches were happening, and all the cricketers were sitting at home and getting frustrated," she explained. "During that time, Yuzi decided one fine day that he wanted to learn dance. He had seen my dance videos on social media... he approached me to be my student. I agreed to teach him."

With determination, he told his parents and made his intentions clear to her, saying, "he wasn’t looking to date – he wanted to marry her."
