Barbie vs Oppenheimer BO Collection: Greta's film extends its lead over Nolan's biopic
Barbie and Oppenheimer have exceeded expectations at the box office. While Barbie is steady in the domestic market, Oppenheimer has the lead in India.

Barbie and Oppenheimer were released on July 21. Expectations were high from filmmakers Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan, who have previously delivered critically acclaimed titles. Now that the films are well past their opening weekends, the numbers are in for how the films are faring against each other over the weekdays.

Barbie crosses $200 million in 5 days in US
According to Variety, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie brought in a whopping $26.1 million on Tuesday. Previously, its Monday figure also stood at $26 million, which led to Barbie breaking the record of the biggest domestic collection ever for a Warner Bros film. The record was earlier held by Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight (2008).
The Tuesday figures narrated a similar story, as there is only a 1% drop in Barbie's revenue as per Deadline. The film now stands with strong a total of $214.1 million in domestic gross. With its offshore gross of $258.5 million, the worldwide haul totals $472.6 million.

Barbie also outdid several box office records for Warner Bros on Tuesday too. It overtook Aquaman's haul of $21.98 million on Christmas Day, and beat The Dark Knight's Tuesday haul yet again, which scored $20.8 million. It also recorded the fifth-highest collections on the first Tuesday ever, behind the likes of Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), The Lion King (2019) and Transformer (2007).

Oppenheimer wins the race in India
Oppenheimer, on the other hand, has emerged as a box office hit as well. On Tuesday, the movie grossed $12 million domestically while bringing in $16.1 million from international markets. Its total international collections sum up to $130.8 million. It has grossed a sum of $107.1 million domestically, while its worldwide gross sized up to be $238 million.

The top markets for Oppenheimer include UK/Ireland ($19.3M), France ($9.4M) and Germany ($8.8M). India has emerged as a huge market for Oppenheimer, as the film collected Rs 6.25 crore on Tuesday, taking its total to Rs 67.94 crore in six days.
