The entertainment industry mourned the loss of veteran actor Mark Margolis, who passed away at the age of 83 on Thursday at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York City. The news of his death was confirmed by his son Morgan Margolis, who revealed that the Breaking Bad star had been battling an illness.

Bryan Cranston shares fond memories

Mark Margolis was best known for his role as Hector "Tio" Salamanca in the hit AMC series Breaking Bad, where he starred alongside Bryan Cranston. The actor's portrayal of a drug kingpin, who was left incapacitated after a stroke, earned him an Emmy nomination in 2012.

Upon hearing the sad news of Margolis' demise, Bryan Cranston, who played Walter White in Breaking Bad, took to Instagram to pay his respects to his late costar. Cranston expressed his deep sadness and shared fond memories of working with Margolis. He described the late actor as both a talented artist and a wonderful person.

"Mark Margolis was a really good actor and a lovely human being. Fun and engaging off the set, and (in the case of Breaking Bad and Your Honor) intimidating and frightening on set," Cranston wrote in his heartfelt tribute. He also mentioned Margolis' mischievous nature, curious mind and love for cracking jokes.

The duo's professional relationship extended beyond Breaking Bad, as Margolis reprised his role as Hector Salamanca in the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul.

Mark Margolis' treasured family and friendships

In addition to his successful acting career, Mark Margolis was cherished by those who knew him personally. His manager, Robert Kolker of Red Letter Entertainment, called him "one of a kind" and spoke of their treasured friendship. Margolis leaves behind a loving family, including his wife of 61 years, Jacqueline, their son Morgan, daughter-in-law Heide, and three grandchildren: Ben, Aidan, and Henry.
