Character actor Chris Gauthier is no more. Best known for playing quirky roles across multiple long-running television series, Gauthier was all of 48 at the time of his passing. The news was confirmed by his representatives Tristar Appearances and Event Horizon Talent.

Chris Gauthier passes away at 48


The news of Chris Gauthier's passing, was shared by the actor's representatives at Tristar Appearances and Event Horizon Talent. In a joint statement provided to Fox News Digital, the date of his passing was revealed to be February 23. A specific cause behind his passing was not revealed  and was simply described as an 'unspecified short illness', reported by Fox News.

The statement read, "We can confirm that our friend and client, Chris Gauthier, passed away on Friday morning, February 23, at the age of 48. As a beloved Vancouver-based character actor, Chris shared his talents with so many of us both on television and in film.  His loss is felt not just by his fans but by those of us who were lucky enough to know him more personally. On behalf of his family, we do ask for privacy during this time so that they are able to grieve properly."

A look at Chris Gauthier's career


Gauthier's IMDb page reveals that he was a UK born, Canada based actor with over a hundred film and TV credits to his name. Once Upon A Time saw the actor play the role of Smee, while Eureka saw him embrace the role of cafe owner Vincent. Gauthier has also held roles in shows Supernatural, Legends of Tomorrow, Harper's Island and A Series of Unfortunate Events. As far as films are concerned, Gauthier has featured in titles like Freddy vs Jason, Watchmen and 40 Days and 40 Nights.

Chris' Once Upon A Time co-star Colin O’Donoghue shared his condolences on the news of the actor's passing. Sharing a photo of the two on set, the caption to his post read, "Rest in Peace Chris! Heartbroken! My love and thoughts go out to Erin and the boys! You will be missed brother! You were the real captain!!"
