Chris Evans found himself at the centre of controversy when an old photo of him resurfaced on social media. In the photo, the actor could be seen giving his autograph to an object that resembled a weapon. The actor has now issued a clarification on the photo refusing that it is a harmful object. 

Chris Evans took to his Instagram account to issue a clarification on viral photo 

On May 31, Chris Evans, best known for his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, took to his Instagram account to share the same photo that went viral on social media. He shared a photo of him signing an object that seemed like a nuclear weapon.

Chris shared the photo with the caption, “There's a lot of misinformation surrounding this picture. Some clarification: This image was taken during a USO tour in 2016. I went with a group of actors, athletes and musicians to show appreciation for our service members (sic).” He continued, “The object I was asked to sign is not a bomb, or a missile, or a weapon of any kind (sic).”

The Captain America actor also shared a photo from a fact-check agency reiterating his point. He shared, “It's an inert object used for training or display purposes only. You can read the quote from the Air Force in the next story (sic).” In the next story, he shared a screenshot of a news article that confirmed the actor’s theory.
