Joker Folie à Deux: The much anticipated Hollywood movie hit the big screen on October 2 in India. The film will release globally on October 4 and got a pre-release here. Joaquin Phoenix returns in the lead role while Lady Gaga joins the cast of the musical thriller. 

Joker Folie à Deux registers a drastic dip on day 2

Joker Folie à Deux opened to a decent collection on the first day, October 2. However, the National Holiday did not do much to boost the box office performance of the film. On the opening day, the Joaquin Phoenix starrer raked in Rs 5.15 crore. 

On day 2 of the film's release, Joker 2 minted Rs 1.25 crore, as per early estimates provided by Sacnilk. The film seemingly has not impressed audiences in India, as indicated by the low collections. The movie's overall performance will be assessed after its global release. 

Joker Folie à Deux starts off with negative reviews 

Audiences who caught early shows of Joker 2 took to their X (formerly Twitter) accounts to share their review of the musical thriller. One user wrote, “Many years ago I did a version of this as a parody, never thought I'd see a Joker musical”. Another user wrote, “Absolutely. When was watching it I told my wife it all seemed like I’d seen it before. Then it hit me and I started looking up the comparisons and it feels like plagiarism. Hell it even has the same actor in an inverse role”. “Regardless of the films quality I always find it really funny how so many people complain about “filmmakers don’t take risks anymore”, and then this is the kind of discourse that happens almost every time a film takes a big risk”, wrote the third user.

However, several users also claimed that despite the mixed and largely negative reviews, they will not miss watching the film on big screens.
