Ed Solomon, the writer of Men In Black in a series of Tweet explained his awkward encounter at a cafe with a pair of friends who were disagreeing over his 1997 film. He explained how he was sitting in a cafe writing when two women started talking about the origins of the movie starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. When the 59-year old asked “If you'd like, I could clear that up for you”, one of the women told him that they don't need an “old white male's mansplanation”. Soloman had never heard the word before but thinks that it was “a good word”.
At the cafe where I'm writing the people next to me were disagreeing about the origins of Men in Black & I said "If you'd like, I could clear that up for you" & one responded: "I'm sorry, we do not need an old white male's mansplanation." So I apologized and that was that.

Okay, on the way out of the bathroom as they were leaving her friend apologized & said I just got them on a bad day for that, & I said no worries, no need to apologize & she said "Well regardless she shouldn't've used the word 'old' like that" & I literally laughed out loud

However, Solomon did not reveal the identity of the two women. Some netizens didn't believe that the pair of friends did not know Solomon while some felt that the writer should have disclosed his identity.

I think you should have waited until you were leaving and dropped a card on the table. "Sorry you feel that way. I wrote it. Have a nice day."
