Robert Downey Jr’s journey to global stardom began after starring in Marvel’s film Iron Man in 2008. With time, Downey Jr's wealth and clout in the MCU grew, much his character Tony Stark. With back-to-back blockbuster successes, came significant rise in the salary of the Marvel star.

Now, after the announcement of his comeback into Marvel Cinematic Universe as the villain Dr Doom, he has also received a fat pay check and several perks from the studio.

How much Robert Downey Jr will be recieving for his comeback in MCU?

According to the report in Variety, the Iron Man will be getting paid more than $80 million, the amount which Russo brothers Joe and Anthony have secured. Interestingly, one of the reasons for Robert Downey Jr’s comeback is Russo Brothers, who will be directing the film as part of a rare Marvel deal. Reports suggest that they were the only ones he would work with.

After Robert Downey’s won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer earlier this year, he reportedly demanded perks in his contract which includes private jet travel, trailer and security. Variety has also claimed that Robert Downey Jr is the highest paid actor in the MCU by far.

Robert Downey Jr, after the release of his first Marvel film, has proved to be a valuable asset. As per the reports of CBR, let’s know the earnings of the Hollywood star which also incudes his special appearances in other Marvel films.

Iron Man (2008)- $2 million

Iron Man 2 (2010)- $10 million

The Avengers (2012) - $50million

Iron Man 3 (2013)- $50 million

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)- $50 to $80 million

Captain America: Civil War (2016)- $64 million

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)- $10 to $15 million

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)- $75 million

Avengers: Endgame (2019)- $75 million

As per the reports of CBR, the Oppenheimer star has earned around $386 to $ 421 in which few of the films he had blink and miss appearances as well. Closely followed by him is Captain America star Chris Evans.

Avengers’ upcoming projects

Both the Avengers movies will kick start their pre-production early next year. The films will go on floors in early 2025. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to release on May 1 2026 while Avengers: Secret Wars will hit the theatres on May 7, 2027.
