Welsh actor and comedian Ewen MacIntosh passed away at the age of 50. He is popularly known for his portrayal of Keith Bishop in the British version of The Office. His comedic talent extended beyond the series, with appearances in popular U.K. comedies like Miranda and Little Britain.

The cause of Ewen MacIntosh’s death remains undisclosed

Renowned for his deadpan performances, MacIntosh captured audiences' hearts with his portrayal of the lovable accountant Keith in The Office. Notably, MacIntosh reunited with The Office creator Ricky Gervais on the Netflix series After Life. His versatility was further showcased in films, including a role as a waiter in Yorgos Lanthimos’s The Lobster (2015), alongside Colin Farrell and Olivia Colman.

How did Ricky Gervais remember Ewen MacIntosh?

Tributes poured in from colleagues and friends, with Ricky Gervais remembering MacIntosh as "an absolute original" in a heartfelt message. Ricky took to his X handle and wrote, “Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as 'Big Keith' from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP.”

Ed Scott, CEO of DAB Music and a close friend highlighted MacIntosh's inner qualities and tweeted, “I am completely devastated by the loss of my very good friend @ewenmacintosh He may have had a famous face known by millions as Keith from The Office but the person inside is what I will most remember. Ewen was so full of empathy, kindness, and integrity and above all a really good man. I will really miss you mate.

What more do we know about Ewen MacIntosh?

Born in Merionethshire, Wales, MacIntosh pursued linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. During his time there, he immersed himself in the arts through the Edinburgh University Theatre Company and the improv troupe The Improverts.

Scott expressed gratitude towards the medical staff who provided care for MacIntosh during his illness and addressed their role in bringing comfort and joy to his friend's final days. MacIntosh is survived by his parents Sara and Ewen Sr. and his brother Colin.
