Travis Scott is gearing up for the release of his upcoming album Utopia. The rapper announced earlier this month that he will be launching the LP on July 28 at a concert at Egyptian Pyramids. The Egyptian Musicians Syndicate, however, soon revoked his permit to perform. This cast a shadow on his plans. Now, the  promoter of the concert, Live Nation, has confirmed that the show will take place as scheduled.

2 things you need to know

  • Travis Scott is an African-American rapper.
  • His upcoming album will serve as the follow-up to acclaimed 2018 album Astroworld.

No changes in Travis Scott's concert schedule

Clearing the air around Travis’ concert,  Live Nation released a statement and said, “There have been no changes to Travis Scott’s show in Egypt; any reports to the contrary are false. We can’t wait to celebrate ‘Utopia’ with you in Egypt!”

Previously, the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate, which regulates all issues involving live or recorded music in the country, claimed that Scott's performance would "go against our traditions." The organisation added that as long as musical performances "do not undermine the ancestral customs and traditions of the Egyptian people," it will not get involved.

The statement claimed without elaborating on which rituals it was referring to that "the syndicate found images and documented information on the strange rituals he practises, which go against our traditions."

Travis Scott is no stranger to controversy

This, interestingly, is not the first time Travis has land in a controversy. Travis also came under fire for his headline performance at Astroworld Music Festival in 2021, where dozens of concertgoers were hurt after several fans rushed on to the stage during his performance..
