Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev Gets Engaged To Boyfriend Shaun White In 5-carat Diamond Proposal

It says the third time is a charm, in the case of The Vampire Diaries fame  Nina Dobrev and Shaun White, it actually was. After two failed attempts to propose to Nina, Shaun finally pops the question on an ordinary week in late October. Nina is now engaged to her longtime boyfriend, a former skateboarder and Olympic snowboarder. The actress shared a series of photos from the dreamy proposal on her social media handle. Shaun popped the question last weekend at The Golden Swan, a New York restaurant and presented Nina with a five-carat diamond ring. The couple has been together since 2019.

The first time Shaun tried to propose to Nina was during a dirt biking leaving Nina with a knee injury. Another was in Cape Town, Shaun was quite eager to pop the question, but the actress was not feeling well, so he postponed it for the next time. For the third time, he made a publicist create a fake invite for a small dinner with Anna Wintour that she sent to Nina as a ruse to get her to the location. When she arrived, Shaun was waiting with a photographer. After the proposal, the pair were joined by friends to celebrate. "I went into shock," Nina told Vogue of the surprise proposal and added, “I just froze and stared at him.”

For the occasion, she wore a black sequin dress from the shelves of Chanel and left her hair loose, while Shaun twinned in a black tuxedo.

Taking to her Instagram handle, she shared several lovey-dovey photos and captioned them as "RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé"

Nina is best-known for her role as Elena Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries. On the other hand, Shaun turned pro at skateboarding as a teen. He has competed in and won at the X Games in both skateboarding and snowboarding and is a three-time Olympic gold medalist in half-pipe snowboarding. He retired from snowboarding after the 2022 Olympics and remains the record-holder for most gold medals won by a snowboarder.

The couple met at a Tony Robbins event in 2019 and dated for five years. This will be the first marriage for both.
