Srijit Mukherji, the popular Bengali director behind films like Jaatishwar, Autograph and more, has addressed speculations about his next film being inspired by Angelina Jolie's controversial confessions about her suicide attempt at 19 and orchestrating her own murder at 22 by hiring hitmen in New York.
"It's not that hard to find contract killers in New York. As crazy as it sounds, I think a lot of people consider suicide when they're young," Jolie shared in an interview with The Face.
As internet users floated theories about Srijit's next KillBill Society, a sequel to his 2012 film Hemlock Society, being inspired by Jolie's ordeals during her youth, he confirmed it by writing on X, "For the conspiracy theorists, this real life incident is the genesis of #KillbillSociety. So sit back, relax and enjoy the music (sic).” KillBill Society will release in cinema halls on April 11.
Angelina Jolie had once revealed that instead of taking her own life, she planned on hiring a contract killer to stage a murder so that her parents won't experience "disappointment" by her passing. "I was very aware that so many people around me, like my mother, would feel like they hadn't done enough if I had taken my own life."
"So my solution to this was that if someone else had taken my life - as in some sort of 'robbery' - then it would be murder and not cause others to experience disappointment," the Maleficent star added. Interestingly, the person Jolie hired for the job of killing her convinced her against the idea. "He asked me if I could think about it and call him back in two months," the Hollywood star shared. Jolie's decision to end her life was driven by her mental health issues.
