Jailer Box Office Collection Day 1: Rajinikanth film nearly collects Rs 100 crore globally

Jailer is the 169th film of Rajinikanth’s career. The veteran star continues to deliver action films at the age of 72, which is commendable in itself, and the tremendous pull he has over cinegoers has translated to massive box opening figures for the new release. Now that the numbers are in, it seems that the big-budget actioneer has made a crucial record.

Jailer creates a storm overseas

As per trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film grossed $1.45 million at the USA box office on its opening day. He noted that Jailer’s haul went beyond another Nelson Dilipkumar film in the USA. Thalapathy Vijay starrer Beast, as compared to Jailer, grossed $1.375 million at the box office.

Rajinikanth dominates top three Kollywood openers worldwide

Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan also notes that Jailer has become the third biggest Kollywood opener worldwide. Further, Rajinikanth dominates the top three entries from Kollywood on a global scale, as the second film on the ranking is Kabali (2016) and the first is 2.0 (2018), both starring him. In a separate tweet, Manobala revealed that 2.0 has the biggest Kollywood opening at Rs 117.24 crore when the global box office is concerned. However, in Tamil Nadu, actor Ajith Kumar’s 2022 film Valimai holds the record for the biggest box office opening at Rs 36.17 crore.

Furthermore, Vijayabalan said that Jailer has minted Rs 29.46 crore in Tamil Nadu, Rs 12.04 crore at the Andhra Pradesh/Telangana box office, Rs 11.92 crore at the Karnataka box office, Rs 5.38 crore at the Kerala box office, Rs 4.23 crore in the rest of the country and Rs 32.75 crore worldwide.
