Former Kannada actress Amulya's brother and film director, Deepak Aras, sadly passed away at the age of 42. As reported by Cinema Express, the Sugar Factory director had been dealing with health issues for several years. This morning October 18, he breathed his last at a private hospital in RR Nagar, Bangalore, due to kidney failure.

The tragic news of Deepak Aras' untimely death has deeply saddened the Kannada film industry. Cinema Express reports that he had been battling health issues for several years. He is survived by his wife, two children, and a large extended family. His body was taken to his Vyalikaval residence before being transported to his native village, Nagamangala, where the final rites will take place today.

The Sandalwood industry is in mourning, with several artists gathering to pay their respects at the location of the last rites. A visibly emotional Amulya stood by her brother’s body, deeply affected by the overwhelming loss.

Who is Deepak Aras?

Deepak Aras was a well-known director in the Kannada film industry. His notable work includes the 2011 romantic drama Manasology, which starred his sister Amulya in the lead role. The film tells the story of Sihi, a violin teacher who falls in love with Manas through phone conversations. The plot takes a tragic turn when Sihi’s father learns of Manas’ death and hides the truth from her. Amulya, a former Kannada actress, began her career as a child artist in the early 2000s and made her lead debut in 2007 with Cheluvina Chittara.

In 2023, Deepak directed Sugar Factory, a romantic comedy-drama featuring Darling Krishna, Sonal Monteiro, Ruhani Shetty, Adhvithi Shetty, and Rangayana Raghu. Set against the backdrop of Goa 's pub culture, the film follows Arya’s journey. It was Deepak’s final project, as plans for his next film were cut short unexpectedly.
