Kantara Actor Rishab Shetty Is Willing To Work In Bollywood But There Is A Condition

Rishab Shetty has been in the news since he won the National Award for his 2022 hit movie Kantara. The actor has predominantly worked in Kannada movies, except for his cameo appearance in the 2022 Telugu movie Mishan Impossible, starring Taapsee Pannu in the lead. The actor recently attended IIFA Utsavam 2024 in Abu Dhabi where he interacted with the media and shared his desire to work in Hindi movies, but he has one condition.

In an interview with PTI, the Kannada actor was asked if he would ever work in Hindi cinema. To this, he replied, that he would work in Bollywood if the right opportunity came his way. “My priority is the Kannada industry. It has given me such a big opportunity. There is no language barrier today and people recognise your work here. It has become Indian cinema now, thanks to the change. If the opportunity is good, I’ll work (in Hindi films)," he said.

His willingness to work in the Hindi film industry comes after he drew heavy criticism for slamming Bollywood for showing India in a "bad light". After winning the National Award, the actor-director said, "Indian films, especially Bollywood, show India in a bad light. These art films are invited to global events and given a red carpet. My nation, my state, my language—my pride. Why not take it on a positive note globally, and that’s what I try to do.”

Rishab Shetty issues clarification over his controversial remark

The actor said he didn't mean it and his word got twisted a bit. "Main kya bola tha wo thoda idhar udhar ho gaya. Clarification or explanation aagey main ek achi si jagah baith kar baat karenge (What I said got a bit twisted. I’ll give a clarification or explanation later when we sit down in a better setting and talk)," he said.
