BLACKPINK's agency, YG Entertainment, recently announced that members will not be renewing their solo contracts with the label. The news was confirmed by BLACKPINK's agency and they even expressed their support for the individual activities of Lisa, Jennie, Rose, and Jisoo. The agency shared the statement on December 29.

Why did BLACKPINK not renew their contract for solo activities?

On Friday, YG Entertainment officially announced that Lisa, Jennie, Rose, and Jisoo will not renew their contracts or extend their individual contracts for solo projects under the label. A few days ago, all the members of BLACKPINK renewed their contracts with YG for group activities.

The statement read, "Hello, this is YG Entertainment. BLACKPINK recently renewed their contracts with YG for their group activities, and we have agreed not to proceed with additional contracts for [the members’] individual activities. We will do our utmost to support BLACKPINK’s activities, and we will cheer on the members’ individual activities with warm hearts. Thank you."

BLACKPINK renews their contract for group activites

Blackpink have renewed their agency contract as a group to continue to perform together. In a statement YG Entertainment said, "We are pleased to announce that our board of directors has successfully agreed on the signing of exclusive group contracts for all four members of BLACKPINK, our talented artists."

They further added, "BLACKPINK will continue to do its best to shine more brightly in the world music market as an artist representing K-POP, and we will continue to give their unwavering support and faith in their actions."

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK formed as a group back in 2016 and rose to fame for their upbeat music. Soon after the four members renewed their contracts, the company's stocks saw a surge in their numbers by 20 percent. Also, their BORN PINK World Tour became the highest-grossing concert tour by a female K-pop group in 2022-23.
