L2 Empuraan Advance Booking: Mohanlal Starrer Beats Lucifer Day 1 Collection, Earns ₹12.59 Crore In India

According to Sacnilk, L2 Empuraan sold 5.34 lakh tickets in India, minting ₹12.59 crore (with block seats), doubling Lucifer's day 1 collection.

Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer L2: Empuraan is just three days away from hitting the theatres and the movie has already broken records in advance booking. The makers opened the ticket window on March 21 and since then, the movie has sold over 5 lakh tickets across India.

L2 Empuraan day 1 advance box office record

According to Sacnilk, the movie has sold 5.34 lakh tickets in India, minting ₹12.59 crore (with block seats), double than Lucifer's day 1 collection. The maximum is reported in Kerala (8.25 crore), followed by Karnataka (2.22 crore). The worldwide pre-sales have crossed ₹30 crore mark, which is the highest first-day collection for a Mollywood movie, as per Sacnilk.

The movie broke the 24-hour record set by Prabhas-led Kalki 2898 AD by selling over 350K tickets in the advance booking on the platform.

9 years ago, Chiyaan Vikram and Mohanlal clashed at the box office when their respective movies Iru Mugan and Oppam clashed at the box office. Both the movies received positive reviews and became commercially successful in India. Now, the history is set to repeat itself as Vikram and Mohanlal will be clashing at the box office again on March 27. Both the movies - L2 Empuraan and Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 - are being praised by the fans, which leads to the conclusion that both movies will perform well at the box office.

What is the budget for the movie?

According to IMDb, the movie is expected to be one of the most expensive movies in India with a budget of ₹400 crore. It is the second installment in a planned trilogy, it is a follow-up to Lucifer (2019). Apart from Mohanlal and Prithviraj, the movie also stars  Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran and Abhimanyu Singh in pivotal roles.

The movie will be released in Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil, also in IMAX on March 27.
