L2 Empuraan: Shocking Remunerations For Mohanlal, Prithiviraj Sukumaran Revealed!

L2: Empuraan is all set to hit the big screens on March 27. Starring Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles, the sequel to the 2019 hit Lucifer will set cash registers ringing upon its worldwide release and its advance booking has commenced on a tremendous note. L2: Empuraan is still five days away from its release and has already collected ₹30 crore globally through pre-sales. It is expected to cross ₹50 crore mark biz on its opening day, which will be a record for a Mollywood film.

Meanwhile, Prithviraj, Mohanlal and the team have been busy with the promotions of the film, travelling to Mumbai and other parts of the country to put the word out. Prithviraj, who is the director of the franchise, revealed that he and Mohanlal have charged no money for the sequel and have invested all in making the big budget film.

L2: Empuraan is the most expensive film in Mollywood history. Talking about the finances, The Goat Life star said, “Whatever money we had, we spent it on the making of the movie. This is not a film where we spent ₹80 crores towards remunerations and only ₹20 crores on the making." The duo will take a share profits after the film’s release.

Meanwhile, the advance booking of L2: Empuraan opened on March 21 and the film has already collected ₹10 crore in India. Including fan shows, the number touched ₹12 crore. With ₹20 crore in pre-sales abroad, the Mollywood sequel has already minted ₹30 crore, with five days to go for its release. With this, L2: Empuraan will become the biggest Mollywood opener with just pre-sales. The record for the highest day 1 collection for a Malayalam film at the domestic box office is held by Mohanlal's Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea (₹20 crore) and L2: Empuraan is certain to beat that.
