Malayalam Lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi Suffered From Stroke, Shares An Health Update
Malayalam lyricist-poet Sreekumaran Thampi said that he suffered a stroke due to high blood pressure and averted a major accident.

An Indian lyricist, music director, director, producer and screenwriter in Malayalam cinema Sreekumaran Thampi is one of the legendary artists. Recently, he shared an update about his health on social media, which sparked concern among fans.
Sreekumaran Thampi’s latest post about his health
In a post on Facebook, the lyricist wrote, “September 9th I had a mini stroke because my blood pressure was so high. Accident averted as I was rushed to the hospital in time. Complete rest is needed for about a month now. There are no words to thank the expert anointed ones and the nurses who took care of me at KIMS Health Neurology Department, Thiruvananthapuram who saved me. Kim's Health chairman doctor came to see me when he got to know I was there. Indebted to Sahadullah too.”
He further added, “I am posting this with the help of my friend so that my friends and fans will not misunderstand me without getting any replies to the phone calls, messages including Onam wishes etc. I couldn't react even on the death of Kaviyoor Ponnamma whom I considered as a sister. I request everyone concerned to understand my present situation and cooperate.. I so need this rest right now.”
All about Sreekumaran Thampi
Sreekumaran Thampi was introduced to the Malayalam film industry in 1966 by P. Subramaniam as a lyricist in the film Kaattumallika. His notable songs include, "Chandrikayilaliyunna Chandrakaantham", "Hridayasarasile pranayapushpame" and "Swanthamenna padathinendhartham".

In 2017, he was awarded he was awarded the J. C. Daniel Award, Kerala government's highest honour for contributions to Malayalam cinema. Other accolades include Kerala Film Goers Award, Kerala Film Fans Award, Madras Film Fans Award, Cinema Masika Trophy, Prem Nazir Foundation Award - Lifetime Achievement Award.
