Dhoomam On OTT: Fahadh Faasil Starrer To Make Its Digital Debut After Multiple Delays
In observance of World No Tobacco Day on May 31, Hombale Films will release the movie on their official YouTube channel, ensuring wider accessibility.

More than a decade after first envisioning it, director Pawan Kumar finally brought his long-time dream project, Dhoomam, to the big screen as a Malayalam film. Initially, Pawan planned to collaborate with Hombale Films on a Kannada movie featuring Puneeth Rajkumar, but the project was halted due to the lead actor's untimely death. When Hombale Films expressed interest in working with Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, they inquired if Pawan had a suitable script. He pitched the story originally intended as C10H14N2 (the chemical formula for nicotine), and the project moved forward, resulting in Dhoomam.
Dhoomam finally gets an OTT release
Despite the promising combination of Pawan Kumar, Fahadh Faasil, and Hombale Films, Dhoomam did not achieve the expected success. It received harsh reviews, and its OTT release was delayed. Eventually, it was released on Apple TV under the Transactional Video on Demand (TVOD) model rather than more popular platforms.

Now, almost a year after its theatrical release, Dhoomam is getting another chance on OTT. In observance of World No Tobacco Day on May 31, Hombale Films will release the movie on their official YouTube channel, ensuring wider accessibility.

What more do we know about Fahadh Faasil starrer Dhoomam?
The film features Fahadh Faasil as a marketing executive for a tobacco company who, along with his wife, is kidnapped. Upon regaining consciousness, they discover that one of them has a time bomb implanted, and following their kidnapper's instructions might be their only way to survive. Dhoomam aimed to deliver a significant message about the dangers of smoking but failed to make the desired impact.
