Actress Konkona Sensharma is set to entertain the audiences with her performance in the upcoming dark comedy thriller series, Killer Soup. Expressing her desire to break away from serious and morally upright characters, Konkona shares her enthusiasm for portraying women with shades of grey and a hint of irresponsibility.

In Killer Soup, Konkona plays the popular character of Swathi Shetty, alongside Manoj Bajpayee, Made under the direction of Abhishek Chaubey, the series promises an engaging mix of love, lust, thrill, suspense, and dark humour promising to stand out from the ordinary.

Known for her notable performances in films like Wake Up Sid, Page 3, Omkara, and Lipstick Under My Burkha, Konkona revealed that her selection process for roles is based on cohesive scripts, well-written characters, and influential directors.

She told IANS, “I try to choose roles which I find interesting, because I am sick of doing just very earnest, good kind of roles, or morally upright women. I love playing women who are a little irresponsible, who have shades of grey, who are living lives according to what they want, on their own terms. So all of these I find very interesting.”

Expressing her satisfaction with the rise of OTT platforms, Konkona talked about the freedom they offer in terms of format and content. She appreciates the opportunity to explore diverse roles that may not adhere to traditional theatrical formulas, providing a significant advantage for actors like herself.

She said, “I have actually been able to do great work and roles that I have been excited about, thanks to OTT. It gives us a lot of room to play with in terms of format, and in terms of content, especially with the films which are slightly not sticking to some kind of formula, which don't have to check certain boxes in order to have a theatrical release. So this is very beneficial for actors like me."

Konkana’s next Killer Soup is a blend of thriller, dark comedy and bizarre elements which will start streaming on Netflix from January 11.
