The Kerala Story OTT release: Adah Sharma starrer pushed to early 2024 | Reports

The Kerala Story garnered controversy because of its subject matter and received mixed responses from critics. However, the film became one of the most commercially successful Indian films of 2023. Despite negative reviews from critics upon its theatrical release on May 5, 2023, the film grossed ₹303.97 crore globally, as per a report by Sacnilk. While viewers are eagerly waiting to watch this film on OTT, the makers are yet to confirm a date.

The Kerala Story OTT release gets delayed

Viewers eagerly await the streaming release of the film following its theatrical success. Earlier, in a social media post, actress Adah Sharma confirmed that the film would debut on an OTT platform this year. However, with December coming to a close and no OTT release in sight, speculations arise about a potential early 2024 streaming premiere if December's deadline isn't met, as per media reports.

The Kerala Story's success and plot

Despite facing significant obstacles and nationwide controversies before its release, The Kerala Story marked a significant milestone as one of the most successful movies in 2023. Directed by Sudipto Sen, the film delves into the narrative of Keralan women coerced into joining the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, compelling them to convert to Islam.

Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film features a cast including Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani. The story's sensitive subject matter and the performances of the cast have generated immense curiosity among audiences, despite the initial controversies.

What is Adah Sharma's upcoming project about?

After the success of The Kerala Story, actress Adah Sharma will be seen in a psychological horror thriller movie titled CD (Criminal or Devil). Along with the title of the film, the makers have unveiled the first-look poster featuring Adah as the main lead. In the poster, the Hasee Toh Phasee actress can be seen staring at the camera with an intense look while some hands creeped out of the frame. Criminal or Devil is touted to be a female-centric movie and by the look of the poster, the plot of the film may seem petrifying.  As per reports, actor Viswant will play the male lead in the movie.
