The Malayalam romantic comedy Oru Jaathi Jathakam, starring Vineeth Sreenivasan, hit the theatres on January 31, 2025. Since its release, fans have eagerly awaited its OTT debut on ManoramaMAX, originally scheduled for March 14, 2025. However, the film did not begin streaming as expected, and here’s why.
The streaming platform, ManoramaMAX, explained the reason for the delay on their official Instagram account. They wrote that the film is undergoing a "recensoring process" due to a notice from the High Court. This process requires certain remarks in the movie to be reviewed and potentially modified to comply with legal and censorship standards before its online release.
In their post, ManoramaMAX stated, "The release of Oru Jaathi Jathakam on our platform has been delayed due to a recensoring process following a notice issued by the High Court regarding certain remarks in the film. We appreciate your patience and will update once a new release date is confirmed."
The platform has not announced a new release date but assured fans that the movie will arrive soon, highlighting it with a 'Coming Soon' tag on the poster. Oru Jaathi Jathakam follows the story of a young man from North Malabar whose life changes after a palmistry reading. A female palmist predicts that his future will be marked by struggles, emotional pain, and ridicule. This prophecy leaves him reluctant to marry, fearing he might cause unhappiness to the women he meets. The film delves into how this prediction impacts his life and relationships.
