Ranbir Kapoor-Konkana Sen Sharma’s reunion sparks Wake Up Sid 2 rumours

Ranbir Kapoor is currently enjoying the success of his recent release, Animal. Despite having starred in multiple successful films throughout his career, Wake Up Sid has a special place in his fans’ hearts. The actor recently reunited with his co-star from the movie, Konkona Sensharma for a shoot. As the photos and video from the set surfaced online, fans started speculating about a potential sequel to the Ayan Mukerji directorial. 

Ranbir Kapoor, Konkana Sen Sharma shooting for Wake Up Sid 2? 

A viral video that surfaced online earlier today featured, Ranbir, Konkona, and the actors Namit Das and Shikha Talsania—who portrayed Ranbir's friends in the 2009 movie. The clip showed all four of them working on something on a set. 

Konkona is dressed identically to her Wake Up Sid character Aisha, wearing a white kurta and denim pants with a dupatta around her neck, while Ranbir is dressed more casually in a blue shirt and off-white pants. Namit is dressed in beige shorts and a red floral shirt. With her pink shirt and blue denim, Shikha also has an appearance similar to Laxmi, her character from the movie.

Fans were excited seeing the video hoping for a Wake Up Sid revival. "Don't let me hope," a fan commented. "Oh my god..." The best news for 2024✨,” someone else remarked. "I was just backing the Wake Up, Sid songs this morning..…good news,” remarked a third person. "Oh my god, I can't wait. I can already confirm that it will be a huge hit,” commented a fourth user.

What is Wake Up Sid about? 

Wake Up Sid made its theatrical debut in 2009, becoming one of the biggest hits of Ranbir’s career in his early career. It is a coming-of-age movie that follows the journey of a spoilt brat who learns to live life on his own with the assistance of a journalist who recently relocated to Mumbai. 

The film also featured veteran actors Anupam Kher and Supriya Pathak in supporting roles. Wake Up Sid marked the directorial debut of Ayan Mukerji.
