Recently, in an interview for the Twilio SIGNAL 2023 conference, Selena Gomez spoke candidly about her past relationship with Justin Bieber.

During the interview, Selena Gomez talked about the phase in her life when she was dealing with heartbreak. The pop star also explained what she underwent during the relationship with singer Justin Bieber. Selena also revealed how that heartache led to her making several hit songs, including Lose You To Love Me.

"So then when I was going through a heartbreak, I immediately, you know, wrote my best music and wanted to be there for every woman or man or whoever, you know, going through that journey," she said, explaining her pain. Selena also admitted that she was a "victim to certain abuse" in their relationship during an interview with NPR in 2020. "I've found the strength in it. It's dangerous to stay in a victim mentality. And I'm not being disrespectful, I do feel I was a victim of certain abuse," she added.

Selena's Lose You To Love Me was a closure song

During a 2020 interview with NPR, Selena Gomez explained the reason behind writing Lose You To Love Me. "I felt I didn't get a respectful closure, and I had accepted that, but I know I needed some way to just say a few things I wish I had said. It's not a hateful song," she said.
